I believe my Penny has a lump near her rump. I think it is an abscess from what I have read on here. I squeezed it to see if it was painful and she acted like nothing was happening. I think it is fill with puss or something. I really can't do a photo because her hair is black there and so is her skin so you can't see it, just feel it. It is a little larger than a quarter. I don't know if this is relevant to what happened to my boy guinea pig yesterday, he passed away. I don't know what from but when I found him, he had maggots in his ear. Is it possible that these two are related? This is the first time I felt that lump.

If it is an absess it will need to be lanced. If your unsure how to do this safely and hygiencally then you must seek vet advice.
How is the pigs general health? Is he feeding ok? going to the toilet ok? Coat clean, shiny?

She seems to be doing well otherwise, eating and drinking well. Her coat is still shiny and beautiful. I am watching her in case she starts grieving her her cage mates death, but she was alone in a cage for many years before I put her with another pig, so I think she will adjust just fine. The lump isn't getting bigger or anything. I am taking her in to the vet on the 15th, I will be monitoring till then.
