Hi, I just joined the board! My name is Lisa and I am a new Cavy mom...well, new, as in had one years ago, and have again decided to bring another two into our home. My son and I brought home two sisters yesterday...mine is named Cinnabon. He hasn't named his yet. Anyway, I just wanted a place to chat and learn all I can. When I had one years ago, I had no internet or computer then, and just did the best I could with her. I am hoping to do much better this time around. The girls are 5 wks. old, and so far, they seem to like to be held. They are starting to move around their cage and getting use to things, already. Anyway, I am going to love to have one to snuggle with, after work. I am a preschool teacher/aide. So I work part time. Anyway, I just wanted to say "Hi".  ~Lisa |

Thank you...she is really sweet. Still getting use to things here, and will run when I want to pick her up, but so as not to chase her too much, I just lay a piece of fleece over her and then pick her up. Seems to keep her calmer. My son finally named his yesterday. She is a black and white American short hair, so he named her Panda. She is doing well also. It is neat to see my 17, going on 18, next month, snuggling with her. He's always wanted a Chinchilla, but we never got him one, and when he saw Panda, he was like he had to have her. LOL They are housed in one cage and we plan on keeping them that way, unless there are issues with fighting. Anyway, thank you for the welcome. I have been all over the board, reading and learning lots. Awesome information here!

You have an awesome name, Lisa!  I am loving this board so far. Have learned a lot, already. I feel sorry for my piggie I had years ago. I had her in this small cage. I do remember feeding her hay, along with her pellets, but I am not sure I gave her veggies. I can't remember. I just remember how sweet she was. I have ordered a bigger cage and can't wait for it to get here for these two. I am going to do everything right for them, this time! Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone! |
