Friends, little Asher is the runt from Lulu's litter. He's not getting the attention he needs and can't fight for food from his brother and sister. To top it off, Lulu doesn't seem to interested in him, either. Right now, we're doing some hand feeding. We have also been able to get Asher to take a tiny bit of milk from Lulu. It's going to be a long process, but we'll do all we can. We know the chances aren't so good that Asher will survive, but we'd rather try than not. Oh, by the way, Asher means "lucky/blessed/happy", so we thought the name was very fitting. Here is Asher all snuggled up in his bed Here he is looking all cute! And here he is already crossing his front feet

He is three days old now. We're feeding evaporated milk (diluted 50/50 with water) every 2 ish hours and a pellet mash a few times a day if he wants it. He's starting to nibble on hay now, as well. He's roughly around 70 grams, so he's still on the small side. But he is a very eager eater! I'm pretty sure he thinks we're "Mom" as he doesn't stray too far away from us.

70grams is a good weight! I hand reared a pup and he went down to 48grams! hes now a whopping 1300gram boar!
You can also use baby food, the veggie medley or fruit/oat compot for him. My pups LOVED this! and they put weight on beautifully.
Best of luck with him!

Asher started to show dislike for the evap. milk, so we tried baby food with him. He loves it! And he's eating so much better with it. I'll get some updated pictures of him soon.

Remember to give him water. Dehydration is a huge issue with pups. Sounds like hes doing well.

Wanted to give you all and update tonight. Asher is still doing great! His weight has gone up. He's gotten all his strength back and is lopping around the cage just like his brother and sister. He is still considerably smaller than they are, but I've seen him have his chance at nursing and know he's getting milk. So, for now we are still supplementing him with the baby food and water. So glad things are working out well.

I just want to let everyone know that Asher is almost exclusively nursing from his mom now. He may take a few bites of the food we offer, but he's too full from already nursing (every time I check on him he's nursing). Bless his little heart, but he is a fighter. Today I saw him playing with his siblings and popcorning all over the place. I also noticed him nibbling on some hay. So glad he's doing well!

He's at 90 grams as of this morning. I'm impressed with his progress so far. His siblings are all weighing in around 120 grams, so he's still a bit under. I'm just glad he's continuing to gain weight.

Asher is eating pellets, hay, and drinking from the water bottle now. Every time I check on him he's eating! I'm going to try to get a video of him and post it here for you all to see.
