6 pigs total, 2.5x7ft area, towels as bedding and is changed 2-3 times a week.
All do scratch some, but not that often. 4 short haired, 2 long haired. One of the long haired pigs is missing fur, seems fairly random all over her, not on the face.
When I clean their pen, I sprinkle DE over everything and the pigs. The bigger animals, dogs/cats, do have fleas. It's something that randomly started at a renter house and we have been battling them ever since. But this pig has no fleas on it, no flea dirt, no eggs, no evidence of fleas.
I will get a picture when my cam charges. I do have Ivermectin, but it's in Kilos which I don't know. 0.5mg/kg, how does that translate to pounds? I guess I can use my kitchen scale, but it only does pounds or ounces. If I post her weight, can someone tell me how much to give her??
Never dealt with balding pigs before...

Ok, seeing it on my other long haired pig. Kind of looks like a mix of chewing and something else. Pic up close of the same spot on the black girl.

It looks like a fungal infection. I learned on from a different post that guinea pigs don't get fleas, but they can get mites. If it's fungal, I've used an athlete's foot cream for mine. Not sure what is done for mites. But don't take my word for it, I'm fairly new

I've got Blukote from the farm critters, I'll dab that on in a few days. I treated everyone with Ivermectin horse paste today, don't want to over load them or stress them further. They aren't handled too much. More like pets to look and admire but not drag around the house. :/

It could be fungal but the pictures are a little close to tell for sure. It may be barbering, the other pigs chewing at the long hair.
Dog/cat fleas dont usually choose guinea pigs as hosts. as most fleas are host specific.
As for ivermectin is it a powder, liquid or paste? 0.5mg is equal to 1.1lb.
Is the skin flaky at all? if so id be more inclined to say its a fungal infection.
To be safe treat all the pigs with ivermectin (wont do any harm)
You can also use a daktarin athetes foot cream on the skin as if its fungal it will clear it up.

I would immediately stop using the DE in your guinea pigs cages and on them. It contains silica which can be fatal to guinea pigs.
The cat/dog fleas shouldnt irriate the guinea pigs, but do keep treating your home and pets (not the guinea pigs) for fleas.

DE is safe as long as not too much is breathed in. It is safe to eat for all mammals, safe to dust animals from horses to mice, people and everything else. The DE cuts and dehydrates mites, fleas, flies and other small bugs and helps to keep them away.

If you are using the Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth then its ok (not advised but acceptable) All other forms should not be used around small animals.

Update, the flakiness is gone, so I think the paste is working. =)
