I have a quick question that I would like cleared up. Is it ok to breed two piggies if they have the same father, but different mothers or vice versa? Will it cause any birth defects?

I personally would not risk breeding half siblngs either way. If there is no need to do this ie you dont need to do it to keep a good thing in and bad thing out.
However breeding father to daughter and mother to son is shall we say more acceptable.

Why Would Anyone Want To Breed Guinea Pigs That Are Related? Ok So Maybe There Will Not Be Any Defects, But I Just Find That Wrong In So Many Ways. I Do Understand Though That Accidents Can Occasionally Happen. But To Intentionally Breed Guinea Pigs That Are Related, I Don't Understand Why Anyone Would Need To Do That. If There Is A Reason People Breed Related Pigs, I'd Love To Know The Reasons For It.

Breeding of guinea pigs partially related happens, and this is to keep in certain traits and to stamp out bad traits passing on ect, wether it be health issues ect.
If you do not understand the genetics behind it then it should not be done. And going on the assumption that its "bad" altogeather is also wrong. If a subject is not fully understood bad judgement should not be passed.
Inbreeding happens in most aspects of breeding animals, cats, dogs, ect. not just guinea pigs.
A responsible breeder will not allow "accidents" to happen. More often than not, inbreeding occurs when novice owners arent sure what they are doing, or when "pets" are bought and bred from often leading to horrible outcomes.
Breeding is a very wide subject and everyones views are different on this
If you dont ask the questions then you wont know the answers. I would prefer members to ask then to assume.

I'm Very Sorry I Didn't Mean To Assume. I was Actually Trying To Ask A Question Myself, It Obviously Come Out Wrong So Sorry For That. As I Said If There Is Any Reason For Breeding Related Guinea Pigs Id Love To Know & You Did Answer That Question. Yes You Are Right a Responsible Breeder Does Not Allow Accidents. As I Said Before I Was Not Trying To Judge Or Offend, So If It Came Out That Way im Sorry

Sorry you have misunderstood my reply
It wasnt aimed at you as an individual (although answering your post) It is aimed at the entire "breeding" question. And a general answer to those who read this thread.
I have tried to word the reply to not direct at any individual nor to offend those against or for breeding. The use of the word "you" is being taken out of context, and again not aimed at you yourself.

Its something i had to get my head around too, as prior to breeding i wasnt sure if, why to breed related at all. But after doing alot of research and speaking to many breeders (who have been breeding 15years plus) It makes sense that siblings shouldnt be bred from but father/daughter, Mother/son is ok and is often needed to get what you require for the breed.
