Hi, I'm new to this website!! Anyway, I have 3 girl guinea pigs and 1 male, and recently, one of my females has gained a little weight (very round around the tummy area, not so much at the front) and has been lying down more than usual. She's also been eating a lot and drinking slightly more. The weight increase isn't anything major, but if she was only a couple of weeks pregnant, surely that would be the case. Compared to her sister, her belly is very round etc. She's usually running around, playing with her toys, going up and down her ramp, but now she just seems to be lying down and eating!! Oh, and she has been with the male by the way!! Quite a few times, but nothing ever came of it, this is the first time she's shown signs of a pregnancy. I am a safe breeder. Sure, I'm not experienced with guinea pig breeding, but I know the consequences of breeding animals as I've had a few rabbit litters. I know the breeders of all my guinea pigs, so the babies wouldn't have any risks in that department. And, they are all of the right age to mate. I've attached a photo, please take a look at tell me what you think. Thanks x

The photo link didn't work. When we thought Scout was a boy, we noticed "he" was getting rather plump, somewhat pear-shaped. We just thought "he" was a good eater. Turns out, Scout was a pregnant she. Sounds like you might have a preggers piggie

How often was the sow paired with the boar and for what length of time? Is this an intentional breeding? When breeding guinea pigs its usualy best to house the boar with the sow for 6-8 weeks to ensure pregnancy.
As said the image hasnt worked so we cant see a photo. Increase water intake and a round stomach sounds like signs. You cant usually tell if a sow is pregnant until she is at least 5 weeks along. At this time you could feel sacs in the sow. If you dont know what your feeling for i wouldnt suggest prodding her too much. At about 7 weeks you will be able to visually see shes pregnant ect.
