I took Junior to the vets today as his urine was still pink with some blood spots, i gave the vet a urine sample which i got from Junior this morning and she tested it and confirmed he has crystals in his urine, and i asked her if i could get Septrin for him she says they dont stock it but she would order some for me and ive to pick it up on thursday, will Septrin help break up the crystals? She says if it doesnt clear up then she will have to get him x-rayed to check for bladder stones.
She also gave me Meloxicam to give him just now.

I hope he gets better soon. I've never had a piggy with a UTI or anything like that so I don't know much about the medications.

One of my piggies is ill with a UTI at the moment. Her bottom was absolutely wet through for over a week despite doing everything we could to change her bedding frequently. Shes been on baytril 0.7 once a day and shes starting to dry up now but on her private parts shes got quite bad urine scalds. We have had to give her regular salt baths and apply sudocrem. She loves cranberry juice diluted in a little water - ive put a seperate water bottle attached to the cage with this in and ive been giving her human cystitis medication 0.5 mornings and then 0.2 every 3 hours or so until i go to bed. I dont know anything about the crystals though but septrin is supposed to be the best form of antibiotic for a UTI
