So about 2-3 weeks ago my skinny pig Roo gave birth to 1 sow & 1 boar. She was bred with my skinny boar Moose,so I was completely shocked at the litter. They had curly hair! Almost like Texels. Although now the sows is more wavy,but the boar still has a curly coat. It's so odd! Do you know how or why this could have occurred??

I still don't know how it occurred, but they both carry the skinny gene. That's why they have the curly/wavy hair (even though they should have been skinnies)

Are both parents skinnies or skinny carriers? Do you have pedigrees for both parents?
They are very nice looking pups!

They are the cutest though! I dont know much about guinea pig genetics but the pups are so cute!

Hmm ok im now getting myself all genetically confused, But the basics are the same (ish) for skinnies and satins (the ones im working on) both the satin gene and hairless gene are recessive so both parents need to carry 1 or both parts to produce either satin/skinny.
Heres a skinny basic breeding chart
Skinny Pig X Skinny Pig
When you breed two Skinny Pigs together, 100% of their babies will all be
Skinny Pigs and hairless.
Skinny Pig X Skinny Pig Gene Carrier
There is a 50-75% chance that the babies bred by a Skinny
Pig and a haired Skinny pig gene carrier, will have hairless Skinny pig
babies. The rest of the babies will just be skinny pig gene carriers.
Skinny Pig Gene Carrier X Skinny Pig Gene Carrier
There is only a 25% chance that 1 or so hairless skinny babies will be born
in these litters
so one of the parents has a hiccup in their pedigree. Id love to see photos of both parents if possible. Just to subside my curiotsity!

You probably wonder now if the postman was the father lol. That's what I tell my brother, who is a foot taller than me. Adorable pups though!
