This is a serious post, about our elderly little dog Rosie
We are aware that she is very frail now, and although she's well most of the time we know the end wont be far away
We phoned the usual vet, who are expensive at the best of times, and they quoted £180 as a standard call out fee, not including the cost of the injection to put her to sleep or the taking away or cremation
I am so upset and angry as I just dont see how they can justify that kind of money when they are so nearby, horse vets are cheaper
We have decided to bury her in the garden, and John will make a good box for her, as I wouldnt let them take her now
Does anyone have any suggestions, including of vets in the Surrey Area?

I CANT belive that. We are in the same situation with our old 17 year old Labrador. We've checked around vets and all have just qouted the price for the petrol, standard fee ($30) and price of injection. All up its only about $100, or 50 pounds and we live over half an hour away from our nearest vet.

Hi Jessegee £180!!! Its absolutely diabolical, i agree with Dawn they do take advantage of caring owners. Sorry I can't offer any help with vets in your area, but when the time comes it'll be a comfort to know she's with you in your garden. I had my Edd privately cremated & scattered his ashes in our garden & this year we dedicated a part of the garden just to him.

Dawn Thank you so much Dawn, I have just spoken to the vet listed for Cobham, as they are very closeby, they were really nice, and their charges are £47 for the callout, and £58 on top for the injection and cremation, although we have decided to bury her in the garden so that figure would be reduced a little also If it is an emergency out of hours the call out will rise to £82 which is fair enough if its in the middle of the night on a sunday etc We will keep their number safe and when the time comes we know we can ring Johns making the box for her today so we can line it with her blanket and keep it in the shed until we need it I like the idea of planting up the garden like you have for Ed, Niki, I know just the spot Thanks guys, sniff, helped alot x
