Sorry if this is the wrong place I was wondering does anyone know if any of the Insurance companies cover guinea pigs yet. I know petplan now do rabbits and some of the illness piggies get are costing a fortune. I have decided to start an account for my boys. Karen

Well Karen,
Why don't you try and put a bit aside in an account every week, as little or as much as you can afford, save it and don't touch it and in no time you will have quite a bit saved up for emergencies. I keep saying I will do this but never get round to it that is why my credit card keeps getting a bashing just lately.

Well I have found this site: www.winking-cavy.co.uk/insure.htmthat I might sign up for! Although Tesco's indicated that they now do insure as well but their site wouldn't open and as my dog is insured with them, I will see if what deal they have to offer. Karen PS Dawn the winking - cavy insure upto 250 piggies WOW

Pet Plan are also doing a new insurance for exotic animals such as all types of birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and reptiles. It is worth a look as they cover up to at least £1,000 to £2,000 of vets fees per year. The excess amount depends on your post code. Here is a link to the site, take a look. Click on the link that says 'Quote me for my exotic pet' It covers alot actually. www.petplan.co.uk/insurance/needquote.asp?Campaign=GOOGLE&WT.srch=1&WT.mc_ID=Google

Hi I had a recent vets bill for £268 !! I had a look around for insurance and only found exotics direct which offer a good plan but i have 12 cavies and the annual premium was too much ! around £8 month each, which is fine if you just have 3 or 4. I have decided to make my vets account in credit as i am happy with them that way when i need it again i will have money ready to use.I have saved £250 now.Its worth asking your vet if you can do a similar scheme.
