So Ellie has been with us about a month now. She often made this strange sound when she was trying to squeak, like nothing would come out besides air. But she behaved normal and ate just fine so we didn't really worry. It didn't seem to be hurting her since she just kept squeaking anyway. But this morning I woke up and she was hooting. Is there anything that it could be besides a URI or a heart problem? We can't get her to a vet until tomorrow but I want to know what I might be in for.

I know that Guinea pigs can sometimes chirp like birds and no-one knows why they do it. Is it something like that?? You may need to you-tube it to have a listen and see if its the same? It's very strange! I have never heard of a piggie hooting though. Does it look like it hurts when she does it?

No it's not chirpping, its hooting. Several guinea pig sites have hooting listed as a sound they make when they are sick. it sounds like an owl. She doesn't seem to be in pain, she is acting happy and normal. No hooting so far this morning.
