Junior my 17 month old guinea pig had surgery about 7 weeks ago to remove a bladder stone. On friday there we had to rush him to the vets at 5.30pm as the little soul was squealing in pain for 6 hours solid, i had gave him some of his pain meds from the last time but they never helped him much, he was just lying there crying his little heart out. The vet took him straight away and she examined his scar and felt his stomach around the bladder area and he was squealing his head off and peed all over her and the table, she says his bladder is very tender, she then rubbed her finger in the urine and says that it felt a bit gritty so he has bladder sludge present again. He is booked in on thursday for an x-ray to make sure a stone has not formed again. She also gave me some more septrin to give him for now.

It may help, it does the same sort of thing as cranberry juice. Its worth a try to make him feel a little more at ease.

Poor Junior. Unfortunately it seems that recurrence is pretty common, but fingers crossed it's not another stone. Let us know how he gets on.
