Puffles had a Lil girl and a Lil boy and I'm wondering what age does her little boy need to be taken away. Do you do a gradual wean with a cage by mom or cold turkey? Also if I plan on keeping her daughter with her as her cage mate does she need to be weaned or will Puffles just stop nursing her on her own? I have found her little boy a wonderful home and they are so excited. Once he's old enough to leave mom should I keep him a bit longer to make sure he is still putting in weight after weaving or can he go to his new family and just have them monitor his weight? Thanks

Boars need to come away from mum at between 3 and 4 weeks of age. If hes not rumbling or mounting his mum or sisters leave him with her until 4 weeks old.
Once removed if you can put him with another boar, as he will act as uncle until the boar is older enough to be rehomed.
Please do not rehome before 6 weeks of age. Aslong as the boar is healthy, gaining weight and seems happy then from 6 weeks he can move on.
The sow will wean the pups off herself, the milk will dry up and mum will tell her offspring when enough is enough.
Pups usually start nibbling on food and hay as young as 24 hours old.
Do remember although we seperate boars at between 3-4 weeks of age this does not mean they are ready to move on. They are still very young and need to grow on a bit before rehoming. A good breeder will never rehome before 6 weeks of age (in most cases) some hold onto pups until they are 8-12 weeks of age
Ensure everyone has plenty of hay, dry feed and a nice selection of veggies and they should all thrive.

Tonight is Gilbert's first night away from his mom and sister he's only 25 days old, but has officially started rumbling and waving his butt around at the girls. He's in a cage I built next to them to keep it as stress free as possible, but he's so confused and calling to them Lots of talk going on between the cages.

No I don't have another boy, but the family who will be taking him when he's old enough does.
