Hi again
As you may remember (or if you look down the list at 'when is she due') my male hiccup and female asdrid gave birth to 3 gorgeous girls. Now, im thinking about breeding again in the future. Hiccup, who is mainly white with black and tan over one eye, to my cream dalmation. However, Hiccup and astrids pups had some roan on them, so does that mean i couldnt breed hiccup to my dalmatian as theres a chance he may have roan in him? As ive heard you shouldnt breed roans and dalmatians?
Thanks for any advice

Unless you know the backgrounds of the pigs, its not worth risking breeding a roan (even a hidden roan) to a dal. the risks are there and arent worth it.
Do you have pictures of both pigs in question?

Ohh your dal is stunning! satin too which is wonderful! (really like your dal haha)
Your boar doent look roan...? Hmmm the sow he was bred to before, is she roan? And do you have pictures off the pups produced.
Do you have any other boars to breed your dal with?

I dont think astrid was a roan, no. No other males. I have another satin sow in pig thats unrelated thats a satin choc agouti paired with hiccup atm. Hoping she might have a male for the dalmatian daisey. Astrid with pups here, the roan on the right side

Hmmm unless im mistaken neither of the pigs look roan to me. What makes you think the sow or the pups are roan.

The breeder who had the pups said they were on the side the black is quite mixed with white making it look grey. If the roaning came from the male, hiccup i dont want to risk breeding him with the dalmatian sow. If it came from the sow, astrid then i could breed hiccup to daisy. Im trying to get as many unrelated satins and satin carriers as im trying to produce some nice satins myself to show. Ive also got a breeder interested in satins near me so we are both excited about future litters!
