I noticed while cleaning the big cage two weeks ago that Boris was actually a Doris. She was huge and continued to get bigger until this afternoon she had 6 (!) pups. They are all looking good and healthy. Do you think she will be able to nurse all of them no problem?

Six pups are a lot for one sow to look after. I would weigh them to make sure they are getting enough milk.

Wow congratulstions, 6 is a large litter. I would personally help them and mum by putting a bottle of evap milk/water on the cage. Mum will probably drink it aswell but thats ok, means the pups should copy her
Would love to see pictures when everyone Is settled. Keep a close eye on them too, pups can drop weight very quickly.

Wow, six! As Kayleigh said, give her a bit of help if you can. That's a lot of little mouths to feed!

Congrats! waiting for pictures. "Boris" sounds like my "Hobbes". I hope she doesn't have that many.

Wow, well done Doris! My Buffy recently had five pups and I noticed one was not gaining weight or growing like the other four. I was advised to feed him oat and apple baby food. (The kind you mix yourself) He loved it, and quickly gained some weight. Just follow the directions on the pack, and feed off of a spoon. He is still a little smaller than his brothers and sisters, but catching up.

not to hijack this... but i'm curious... i have rabbits and i know with them if a momma has alot of babies that i can take them to another momma who has plenty of milk and hold her and let the babies nurse. wondering if it would be worth trying that with guinea pigs if a sow had alot? to take a few of the babies to nurse from a rabbit? i read somewhere that usually its best that when the sow doesnt have enough milk/dies/etc to just get the babies eating solid foods, that milk replacement usually isnt helpful really. but since guinea pigs and rabbits are fairly similar i was curious...
