Hello to anyone who reads this! A week and a half ago, my son saw a stray guinea pig in the parking lot of our apartment complex. It was a cold winter night. I made him go get it. I put the pig in the bathtub, went online to see what they can safely eat, and ran to the store to buy supplies (including a so-called guinea pig cage). I never planned on owning a guinea pig, but no one has responded to the "Found" posters I put up around the complex. I built a c and c cage a few days ago, but he/she seems terrified of the open space, and having no lid. I joined this forum to see what I should do! Thanks! - Ann

Wow, that is weird! Some twisted soul actually just thrust a poor defenseless guinea pig out into the parking lot!? That is just a horrible thing to do! So, glad you were there to take it in!

I'm hoping it was an accident. Maybe a child took it outside to "play", and it got away into some bushes? I can't bear to think that someone abandoned him. My son named him Bruce Willis (Die Hard), because he survived in a dark parking lot with cars driving around The pig may be a girl, I don't actually know, haha!

Sadly many people dump pigs in boxes. When i rescued pigs i would have peoe leave me 'gifts' on my doorstep. Its terrible but its what cowardly humans do.
Well done for rescueing the pig. Firstly id suggest sexing him/her so you know what they are. Should be very simple if they are older than 12 weeks. Take a peak and if your unsure post pictures. We are all here to help.
Any questions ask away.

Well despite the fact that this story is not guinea pig related, since the thread seemed to continue with the topic of abandonment, I thought I would share my Nana's experience quickly. She was driving home form work and there was a small to medium sized box siting in the middle of the road. Most people think nothing of it and just drive on by and sometimes drive over the box if its in their way. Nana stopped and to her shock, kittens. Little itty bitty kittens left in a box in the road to be crushed. She kept a few as family pets and found homes for the rest so it did have a happy ending. Well done to you for taking the GP in and trying to find its owner! We would love to see pictures

hello and welcome. I am so glad you were there to rescue the guinea pig. I cant believe someone would abandon a poor little piggy like that. Guinea pigs need unlimited pellets and hay and fresh veggies twice a day bell pepper and lettuce(no iceberg) are good for starters. (about 1 cup veggies per pig per day.)

That's horrible someone would abandoned a guinea pig(Or any animal for that matter). Makes me want to cry. Have you posted pictures of him somewhere? I would love to see him! I like what your son named him. So cute.
