Hi, I Have Just Noticed As Of Today That My Guinea Pig Eve Has Some Markes On Her That Almost Look Like Scratches. The Problem Is Ive Never Seen My 3 Guinea Pigs That Live Together Fight. I Have Mother, Daughter (Eve) & Granddaughter In The Same Cage. Eve Also Looks Like There Is Small Amount Of Hair Loss Around The Scabs. She Has Always Been Healthy & Weighs 1010g, The Last Time She Gave Birth Was 3rd November 2012 So She Has Had Plenty Of Time To Recover. Here Are Some Pics Please let Me Know What You Think???

She might have mites that are causing her to scratch. The first thing I would do is treat for them. You'll have to treat everyone she lives with as well. It's a simple treatment you can get from the pet shop (or cheaper from your vet) called ivermectin (I don't know where you are, but if you're in the UK the pet shop version is this). You just drop it on the back of the neck, and do it again in 7-10 days (I can't remember exactly, but the instructions will tell you). If she doesn't have mites it'll do her no harm, but it could be a simple fix for your problem.

As orlaith has said treat for mites and keep an eye on the girls...they could be bite marks. Only time will tell.
Remember to give the cage etc all a good clean with anigene or virkon or something similar.

Well I Had Only Noticed Eve Scratching But Not Much. Hopefully I Got It early! If This Is Not The Cause Of The Problem Then Maybe They are Fighting, But They Always Seem So loveable. I Always Clean My Cages At least Once A Week So Thats No Problem. Ill Keep You All Posted.
