Before I begin just let me say that i know pet stores are bad but ive been looking for weeks and couldnt find any breeders or shows or rescues anywhere around my area.
So yesterday i went to petsmart to look at their guinea pigs. I just KNEW i wanted an abyssinian from the moment i saw a pic of one. Petsmart had two baby boy guineas left when i got there last night and one of them was the cutest little guy! He has 5 rosets and is mostly white with a brown and caramel head. i fell in love and took him home.
He did the normal hiding for a while then came out to eat. my dogs saw him and went to sniff and the tiny piggie didnt run away or even stop eating. lol He apparently isnt too scared. So this morning i decided to hold a piece of fruit out for him and he came out to eat it from my hand while i held it for him. He is so brave.
I checked on him afew hours later and one of his eyes was completly crusted over and he was breathing heavy. So i tok him back to petsmart to have them take him to the vet. im just worried he isnt going to make it through the night. im scared my brave little piggie will die without even a name.... im so scared for him.
I just needed to share his story. and let people know that if he doesnt make it he would have been a wonderful friend and the bravest baby ive ever met. <3

It's probably not a great sight when the best a vet can tell you is that she has seen piglets pull through before after she had lost hope. I have to give it to petsmart though I adopted him for $30 and the vet said they have spent over $500 trying to save him so far.

It just depends on the animal some pull through some don't. I hope your piggy is one that makes it!

I called to check on him again this morning and he's still hanging on. He is still eating and drinking. And his eyes are clearing up. Still struggling to breath though... He's a tough little guy.

Awwww I hope he gets better! I know how hard it is to lose a pet! I lost a cat this last week and the hole in my heart is more than I can bare!

I'm very sorry to hear about your cat I lost my best friend ( a little mutt I adopted ) 9 months ago.... I'm still not over it I loved that dog more than I thought possible. I'm really hoping I don't lose this baby gp too. I will keep everyone informed I'm going to see him today ( I live about 45 minutes away ) so I'm hoping he's looking and feeling better. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to know one way or the other if he's gonna make it or not. He's just a tiny baby but I'm still hoping. He's only about 6 weeks and was seen by the vet 3 days ago. .... Pneumonia she said

I'm very sorry to hear about you're gp! It has been very rough for me but today was a good day it's been a few sense I saw him and today he looks fantastic! His eyes and nose are clear again and his breathing is much better! They told me he has even gained weight! I know he isn't out of the woods yet but I'm hopeful now when I wasn't yesterday.

Called again today. They said his breathing is finally getting better they said its a massive improvement over last night. And he's finally eating pellets too not just hay. I'm so excited. Ill have to find a name for him soon

Just got off the phone with Kenny from my petsmart I guuess my boy took a turn for the worst last night they found him this morning gasping for air so they rushed him to the vet who said the best thing to do would be to put him to sleep.

Awwww I'm so sorry! I hope you find comfort in the fact that you did all you could do and it was just up to God who decided he wanted to have your little guy as company. He's playing with my cat who I lost a couple of weeks ago! I'm sure they both crossed rainbow bridge and are living it up on the other side.  |

I'm very sorry for your loss  its alway heart breaking to lose a critter no matter how short the time you had with him. but at least he was spoiled for the day he was with you and obviously trusted you. |
