Hello, everyone! It's been a while since we've last been on here. We have tons of good news! As of last night, we found out that our little Penny is having babies! She's gotten pretty pear shaped since the last time we've been on and last night we were able to see and feel the babies moving in her tummy. Now some of you might not know this but we're first time Piggy Mommies. I've never had a guinea pig before and my partner had one a long time ago. Penny was 4 months old when we first got her and she was housed with other Guinea Pigs (Boars) and like we were afraid of happening, happened. Penny is pregnant and we suspect that she is almost ready to burst.
When we first got Penny we were very nervous that she just wasn't a very "people person" piggy and that she liked her alone time, but come to think of it, she was always grumpy when we held her and didn't liked to be as social and tried to bit us. Sounds like a preggo to me! Her thirst is crazy, always drinking from her water bottle and she wheeks constantly for food, in which we indulge her with. Lettuce is Penny's ultimate snack!
Penny is our first piggy and our first pregnant piggy! So any tips and random facts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much and we'll try to keep y'all updated as much as possible!!

Hi
Ahh there is alot of information on this site about breeding etc, any questions please ask.
Penny is still a baby herself, and too young to be a mum, but these things happen.
Ensue she has plenty of fresh veg, hay and pellets. Try not to overhandle her, if you need to at all especially near the end of her pregnancy.
How long have you had her? Do you have a guesstimate date?
They are pregnant for approx 10 weeks : )

I hope everything goes well for Penny and the pups. Terra is my first Guinea pig and he is male so I really don't know anything about pregnancies.

Kayleigh, we've had Penny since January 2nd of this year. We've kept a watchful eye on our little Piggy and made sure she had as much food, veggies, and fresh water as she needs. We really try not to handle her and usually just let her rest by herself. We did pick her up once but that was when we had no idea that she was pregnant but we minded her little love handles and picked her up from her bottom, gently. She's already a little bit socially awkward so we didn't want to try to make anything even more stressful for her than need be. We kind of have a guesstimate of maybe March 9th at the earliest or even March 12th at the latest. She's maybe 9 weeks maybe a little bit earlier than 9. But we believe that she's ready to have the little ones anytime soon. And thank you so much, Lisa! We will be posting pics of the new members of our family as soon as Penny gives birth to them!

I hope everything goes OK! I have two girls and they are my first guinea pigs so I don't know anything about pregnant guinea pigs either!
