OK Something else! My son is now sick and running a fever which means he is contagious, right? Can the guinea pigs catch it? If he's running a fever doesn't that mean it's a bacteria? Anyway, I have him sleeping in the guest room so hopefully he won't get the guinea pigs sick.

Its unlikely but make sure he washes his hands before and after handling. Iv never given my pigs the cold when iv been unwell.

I've had that same worry too, but as Kayleigh said, washing your hands before and after handling should keep everyone healthy. A lot of bacteria and viruses are human-specific anyway, so they can't infect pigs. I always stop giving (and receiving) piggy kisses when I'm sick as well. It's hard!

Humans and cavies don't get sick with the same germs. But if your son is not feeling well, I'd keep him away because HE may get sicker from being exposed to piggie hair or hay dust when his nose is already runny and irritated.
