New, need help advice

So I am posting this as both an intro and a post. I have searched for an intro thread, and the post about intros has a link that when clicked it says "no copying please" so here I am.

My name is Robin, I am a mother of 3 humans, and currently 16 guineas. Originally we had 6 piggies and didnt realize one of them was a boy, so three of the piggies had babies that we are looking for good homes for. The original six are Cata (pronounced kate-a) maggie mead, Miss Piggy Samantha mead, Widget Rolo mead, Tony Thomas mead, Sarah Squeaker Mead, Ruby Helena mead. The babies are all named except for one, they are Gizmo, Mike, Kahuna (from Widget), Charlie, Cookie, and Trisket (from Miss Piggy) and Koala, Annabelle, Cashmere, and the fourth doesnt have a name yet.

We love our piggies, each mom has been given special care, they all get pellets, timothy hay, and vegetables along with extra vitamins and of course water. They have a large enclosure with room to run, hide and play.

I came here because I am very concerned about Miss Piggy, she gave birth to her babies on the 28th of March 2013 and the last few days she has been seriously lethargic hardly eating or drinking, or moving for that matter, she is losing large quantities of fur when you pet her, we can not take her to the vet right now, and if it comes down to it there is a cavy rescue we will take her to, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and know what could be wrong with her, I know it can take awhile to respond on here, so if you would like you can email me (I get them instantly on my phone) at [e-mail] or call/txt at 425 232 5429, thank you in advance for your help.

Hi welcome to the forum.

It very much sounds like cavy toxemia, which sadly without vet intervention right away can be fatal. The important thing to do is get some glucose into her, metatone too if you have some. You need to get her eating/drinking.

The hairloss could be hormonal.

How old is the sow? Is she being housed alone with her pups? how many pups did she have and are they ok?

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately she died the same day, she was about a year old, very young for her to die it was my stepdaughters guinea, she was housed alone with her pups, she had 3 and they are all healthy, we have put her pups with the mom who had her pups on the 12 of last month, this mom only has one of her pups with her as the other two are boys and ready to mate, so we had to seperate them, they seem to be happy with her and still very healthy. We burried the one who passed and made a marker with flowers in a part of the garden that she would not be disturbed. My stepdaughter and my husband are working on making a marker for her.
