Hello!
My name is Christen! Yesterday, I bought my first piggies. They are brothers and still unnamed!!! We are discussing a few choices (Willie & Jase, Phil & Si, Chip & Dale). They are very sweet and social but still getting warmed up.
When I was young, my dad insisted that we would never have any pets inside other than his cat. What began as one can soon turned into four cats and two outside dogs. My mom and I finally talked him into letting us have a dog inside after the passing of our first two. When I would bug him about getting a small pet he refused. I tried for years to get a hamster but he insisted that his fat cats would eat them (they couldn't even jump on the low bed I have). Not too long ago, mom found a stray cockatiel at her work and brought her home. That began her obsession over birds and she now has SEVEN birds!!! So that gave me the proof that his cats couldn't harm our small babies. After plenty of thought and consideration, I decided to go with guinea pigs!!! Now I have two darling boys!
There's my story... Now my request is any tips and also name ideas!
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! Yay, it's always exciting to have new pigs. They can be a bit skittish at first but be patient, they'll come around. It can take them a little while to get used to all the new noises and smells in their new home. I think the best tips I can give is to make sure they always have an unlimited supply or good quality hay (timothy or meadow is the most common) and give a good variety of veg daily. Here is a thread on what veg are good to feed

Thanks! We gave them a good salad and we got Timothy hay for them as well! They are a little skittish but not too bad. I have them in my lap now! They are very sweet boys. I think we are going with the names Chip and Dale...
