Hi, guys. I took my guinea pig to the vet today. I got her from pet smart on the 2nd and had no idea she was sick. She had a goopy eye. I watched it for a few days and it seemed to "clear up" She began getting the sniffles and had sneezing and clear discharge from her nose a few days ago so I new it wasn't just normal eye goop and set up an appointment for her. Anyway, the vet noticed the inside of her ear was flaky and bald. The area around her little girl parts was the same way. He ruled out mites and he thinks this is a fungal thing, what he described as ringworm. He wanted to take a culture, but I had limited funds as I don't get paid again until Friday. so I declined that. He prescribed neo-poly-dex ophthalmic drops for her URI that I give to her twice a day in the goop eye and nose. I'm waiting on the ringworm medication to come in the mail. She'll be on that for the next 4-6 weeks. She was also injected with vitamin c. I guess what I'm asking is if you guys have had experience with ringworm? I know it can transfer to other pets, I have 2 cats and a dog, and humans and I'd like to prevent it from spreading. The vet also recommended me changing her bedding. I'm currently using critter care natural bedding. It says it's dust free, but I notice some dust in the bottom of her cage when I clean it. (It's a purple cage so it's easy to see.) I read somewhere that critter care natural was comparable to care fresh. Is this true? Sorry for the long winded post. These are the things I thought of after the appointment.

Ringworm is highly contagious but easily treatable!
Keep hands/bedding clean. Apply an anti fungal cream to the area twice a day. Do you have a picture of the fungal/possible fungal.
I would also advise against any future injections, they are very painful and not needed. A high vit c diet should do the trick.
Further tests arent needed yet, treat for fungal and see how it goes.
