Hi everyone. I am Madison a.k.a. Goofernauker and I got my first piggy about a month ago. His name is Napolean, he has wild and crazy hair. I love him he is just soooooo adorable. He now is about 5 months old. I, just a few days ago, got a second one. His name is Barney, he is smooth haired sadly (love the wild haired ones) but I love him just the same. He is 2-3 months old. Barney is mostly black haired but up his nose and around his cheeks and chin he has white hair and one calic right behind his left ear. Napolean is mostly brown but like barney has white in mostly the same spots and has "highlights" of black all over as well as lots of calics with hair sticking up like liberty spikes all over. My two little sisters just love them and always want to have them out and play with them. I like having floor time with them but rather enjoy just holding the two of them. I was first hooked on guinea pigs when we went to town one day and had stopped at Ward's. I saw the guinea pigs and Napolean was there and I just couldn't leave without him. My mom would say ever since I am addicted to guinea pigs and should go to guinea pig anonymous haha. Love my piggys and am grateful to have them and, except for when I go to college, I wish to always have some.

Welcome Goofernauker! It is fab to have yet another Guinea Pig crazed lover to join in with the rest of us! I am sooo glad you have so much passion for your Guinea Pigs as we all have. I would love to see some pictures of your guineas when you get time; everyone on here I'm sure would agree! I have always had Guinea Pigs too and I agree through college it did get hard to look after them but I found a way and then after college I found a job and ended up getting back into Guineas like mad and am now thinking about going back into breeding and hopefully then showing (Of course before all that I am looking after my pet pigs first) But it just shows once a Guinea Pig lover always one!
So when you get some time I would love to see your Guinea Pigs and I am sure you are going to find out so much knowledge on this forum! I know I already have, we have some great people on here that can help you with so much!

I have 2 male piggies, one is 3-4 monthes and is quiet and kind of like a recluse I call him, the other is about 6 monthes and is more out going and talkative and I believe is the dominant one. My mom just caught the two of them fighting in their cage and had to move the older one to get them to stop. The younger one is now out of the cage away from the other one and I see 2 cuts on him one on his lower back and the other next to his nose on the left. Should I get him looked at or will he be fine? He is not bleeding from the one on his back but the skin is pulled back a little and the one by his nose is slightly bleeding but nothing much at all.

I don't think you will need to have him checked out; I usually clean cuts with a little warm water with salt in it that way the salt with kill the bacteria and dry the area and allow it to heal. Throughout my years of looking after Guineas I have found some just have fights like people do and then go back to being fine together also I have had Guineas that never resolved their problems (This one is very rare for me.) In the past I have cleaned piggies up and put them back in and then they are back together sleeping, I think you need to do what you feel comfortable with I wouldn't want to tell you to put him back in and then he gets hurt but me personally I wouldn't just leave him out without knowing if it was just a one time thing and they just were having little spat and one Guinea just got a bit nasty and went for the bite.
It really is what you feel comfortable with, I hope things get better keep us updated.

Well now my piggy that got hurt(barney) is a little scared of the other one(napolean) and hides a little more but is still eating and not too often sidestepping around napolean if he is really hungry. All in all i think they will be fine thanks for your help.
