so as some of you will know I've been treating my new pig for a URI pretty much since i got her 2 1/2 weeks ago (with the help and support of my good local pet store) I don't know if it's in any way related but when I got her (at approx 9 weeks old) I noticed that her scent gland was quite dry and crusty, I pointed it out to my vet who wasn't concerned and said it should settle but if it continues give it good wash then pop some vaseline on it to soften the crust. since then the crustiness seems pretty much gone but she is now bald over that whole area, do you think that the hair will grow back in?? It's not noticeable unless you part some of the other hair on her bum to have a look at it (she has quite long hair round there) but my other girl has a fully furry bum so I'm pretty sure it's not normal to have bald patch right? Also, any idea what might have caused this in the first place?

Do you mean the grease gland?
If gunk gathers and is pulled away it will leave a small bald patch. Hair should grow back.
If your worried post a picture.

It has happened to pigs I've taken in too, where their grease gland has gotten very mucky and when giving them a bath they lost a clump of hair around there. It always grew back, though.
