My name is Kailey. I've owned guinea pigs for about 11 years. My last guinea pig just passed away a week ago at the age of 6 years and 9 months. His name was Moe and he was an abyssinian mix. I actually owned his mom when she was pregnant. Long story short a pet store actually gave her to me since she was pregnant and I raised her babies til they were weaned and adopted them and the mom out but couldn't find a place for Moe. So I ended up convincing my parents to let me keep him. At the time I had another guinea pig named Reeses (who passed away last year at 6 years old). Moe and Reeses were best buddies for a long time. I miss them both. A little bit about me: I live in California. How many others here are from the United States out of curiosity? I am a college student and am studying nursing - something I've wanted to do since I was 2 years old. I have 5 siblings, I don't know how my parents handle us all. I have two dogs: Leo (1 year old) and Buster (9 years old) - both are absolute joys. My family owns 12 chickens and a rabbit as well. We'll probably add some other animals to our "zoo" eventually. I've been in love with animals my whole life. I'm excited to join this forum, learn and grow with you all. I am hoping to get some guinea pigs in the near future, we shall see. -Kailey

Hiya and welcome Kailey! I am actually from the UK but we have recently had more people from the United States joining and all over the world for that matter. It is great that your Guinea Pigs lived to a ripe age also wow your family does have a lot of animals! I'd love to have that many but I would have thought your back garden is 10X bigger than mine haha; I still have 10 long haired guinea pigs though so I managed to at least fit them in comfortably haha. It is fab also that you want to get some new Guineas! And you're in the right place to learn more I myself have learned so much already on this forum, so don't be afraid to start a topic people are sure to help if you have any questions and I hope to see you posting more in the near future!

Hi Kailey and welcome to the forum. As Wiggypiggys said, we have a good few members from the USA here on the forum. (I'm from Ireland myself).
Sorry to hear about Moe and Reeses. It's always tough when they go. Do you think you'll get some more?

Thank you all for your warm welcome!! Sorry to hear about Moe and Reeses. It's always tough when they go. Do you think you'll get some more? Thank you! I definitely want to get some more. I love having them around. I have literally grown up having guinea pigs so it's weird not having any. Since I'm still living in my parents' house I have to make sure they're on board as well. Haha.

Hi Kailey and welcome. I am in the Usa too. In Phoenix, Arizona. I am a first time guinea pig owner but I have lots of other pets. I have 2 large dogs, a bengal cat, 4 chickens (various breeds, all hens), a saltwater fish tank, a fresh water fish tank, and of course my 3 girl piggies I am a stay at home mom with 3 kids under the age of 10 also. So I have a very busy house. Sorry about Moe and Resses. I'm sure they were wonderful.
