twice now in the last couple of weeks I've heard what sounded like a bird chirping in my living room, and since I don't own a bird I can only deduce that the sound is coming from one of my piggies. Is this a normal sound? if so, what does it mean? Both times I've heard it, its been after giving the piggies their nightly ritual head scratches and heading to bed. I've not been in the room and it stops before I can get out there to record it.
is this a sign of distress? or could it be that one of my piggies is trying to get me back out there for more head scratches?

This sounds like chirping! Your very lucky to hear it...its quite rare. No one really knows why guinea pigs might chirp but i am sure its not a sign of distress. I have heard my sow chirp twice. Both times were when she had babies.

Yes as tatiepot has said it is very rare I have only heard it once too and that was also when my sow was pregnant. Pfft I spent an hour looking under the shed around the shed thinking there was a little bird hurt checking in the guinea cages until eventually I come to Beyonce curled next to my summer chirping while rubbing her head against summer haha.

Wow! I wish to hear a chirp from my Toffee baby boy. However, I do own four parakeets now so I may get confused! Haha! Sounds wonderful
