Maybe I read my scales wrong last week but Fudge seems to have gone from 975g to 900g in a week. For some background info she's approx 9 or 10 months old and a typical short haired pig. I had thought perhaps she was getting a little too chunky and as I was 'free feeding' pellets I decided to limit what I put in so now her and Poppett (3 months) have 2x30g bowls a day which seems right by the guide on the bag. The bowls are normally almost empty at the end of the day so it seems an ok amount for them. Fudge still looks a good weight,ie, not underweight I don't think, I think she now looks healthy, her coat is better and she's running around more. It seems a big loss to me but as she looks and behaves better now do you think that's ok?

It is a big drop in weight but you need to take into consideration the changing of her pellets, if the weather has been hot also if she was just eating less? My advice would be to keep a close eye on her weight and see if she drops anymore. I have had cavies drop 100g in one week and then gained back up again, there is many factors that play in weight loss. Let us know how she gets on

I would weigh her daily for a week or two, just in case. It's a big drop, but it might just be caused by the diet change.
Has she been running around much?

Yeah she's been much more active since I introduced Poppett and reduced the pellets, I'll weigh her again in the morning and see how she's doing.

I weighed fudge again today, she is now 925g so a regain of 25g. She still looks good and healthy so I'm hoping it was just the dietary change and more running about. Hopefully her weight will stablise around this weight coz she was definitely a bit too chunky at 975g. At what age do pigs normally plateau with weight, fudge is now around 10 months.

All Guineas very in weight some become bigger pigs and some stay small, I had 1 girl lola at the age of 7 months stay at 700-800g her whole life and she is now 6 years old and has littered and is still that weight. Whereas Lulu at 7 months was 800g and then went up to 1kg and stopped there and has stayed around the 1 kg point. All pigs are different some bigger some smaller, also breeds very so it is very hard to say when one pig will plateau with weight, eventually they should just only have tiny gains and losses at that point you know they have reached a weight they are happy with if you keep only feeding them the same amount of food. Hope this helps
