Hello everyone, my name is Malorey, and as the title says, I am from Wisconsin, USA. I am a recently started breeder, having my first two litters just born this past week. I had a littler of three and a litter of one. I am just a small time breeder breeding for pets, as there is really no option for Guinea Pigs (or other small animals, actually), besides the feed store ever since the great family run pet store closed down I'd been going to my whole life, and who my family had known since before I was born. But at the feed store they basically just get an animal and throw it into a cage, not getting any socialization with humans, so I've decided to start breeding for my love of Guinea Pigs, and to provide healthy animals from a well-loved and well-cared for home, with babies who will also get a lot of interaction. I'm happy to read on another thread that everyone is accepted here, within reason (not abusing animals, for example). As I find so many Guinea Pig forums just tear us breeders apart, or those who aren't up to their standards in general. I just joined another forum, and it is very anti-breeder, as I just wanted a place to be able to talk about Guinea Pigs, just like them, but mentioned being a breeder as I believe you have to be honest, and my threads aren't even accepted by a moderator, so, lovely. Anywho, onto the good stuff, MY GUINEA PIGS. Welcome to the forum.
Im sorry to read you have had bad experiences with other forums. I too am a member of various forums who are anti breeder .... and have no good arguement for it. They tarnish all breeders with the same brush.
Its their loss ......
Welcome again, your piggies look lovely. Breeding is a super rewarding thing, can also be heartbreaking too.
I breed and exhibit my pigs so have seen the highs and lows myself.
I hope you enjoy the forum, do keeo us updated with litters, planned breeding and feel free to ask any questions.

Hiya! And welcome! As Kayleigh has said it is their loss as we have you now, and it is there loss that they will never gain the knowledge of what breeders have to share. I look forwards to seeing future posts from you! And your Guineas are beautiful!!! I can't wait to see your future litters.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy it here. We welcome everyone. Not everyone has the option to rescue, and I think that good breeders are a valuable resource, both for healthy pigs and for information. You won't have anyone judging you for breeding here I loooove your pigs! So so cute! But I have to say that Hank Hill has stolen my heart. So handsome! He reminds me a lot of my Xander (in my avatar) who's my first and oldest pig

Thank you very much for the welcome and comments on my Guinea Pigs, everyone!
I find the worst of it is indeed as you said, Kayleigh, of them painting us all with the same brush. Saying we all cull, overbreed, keep our Guinea Pigs in dirty & tiny cages, only care about making money, don't care about our Guinea Pigs, and how we are killing Guinea Pigs in shelters due to our breeding. I would never cull any of my babies and personally do not support it as I know there are homes for them all, and if I for some reason did not find a home for one of my babies, it would stay with me for it's life. I do not overbreed any of my Guinea Pigs, and give them time after each litter to gain back their condition and in general have a rest before bred again, if ever. My cages probably are smaller than what might be preferred, but I don't have a lot of room and only have a couple in each cage at a time, and they popcorn, run laps, and play with no trouble whatsoever and see perfectly happy! Plus when it's nice get to go outside and when it's not nice get to run around my closet or room (depending on if I'm supervising or not, as my room does have a few chewable items, while my closet is bare). I don't care about making money at all; I list my babies for $20 each, yet gave the sows to a family for $25 a pair and the boar to his new family for $10 (even though insisted I at least took $15). I'm just looking to provide families with these great little critters, which so far I have done! If I didn't care about my Guinea Pigs, I'm pretty sure I would not spend most my time buying hay, pellets, veggies, fruits, cleaning their cages, having them out, taking their pictures, and reading on them. Yes, I am heartless and only want them as breeding machines! The shelter one is one of the ones that irks me the most, with all animals. Now, in my area, we don't even have places to buy them, hardly, let alone any being put to sleep in shelters. Heck, in all my 19 years I have NEVER even seen one in a shelter! Sure, it happens in other areas, and that is sad, but it is not a common practice where I live, or from what I've seen, at all in the USA. I know the UK, and other areas can be worse for getting small animals in rescues and shelters, but it's just not a problem here. Plus, not everyone wants a shelter pet. I'm an advocate for them, and plan to start my own one day, and have a couple rescue animals, but I know plenty of people who want to know where their Guinea Pig (or animal in general) come from. They want to know their Guinea Pigs parents, talk to a breeder about their Guinea Pigs / Guinea Pig care, know they'll have a handled baby, and with being handled have an animal that the breeder will know how that Guinea Pig is in personality, and even more so might want a young Guinea Pig / baby to get and grow with! So much evil going on here, what will we do, HAHA.
Now that I'm done on that ramble, thank you again everyone! Little Monster's babies have all now gone to their homes, and I have still kept Paparazzi's baby, Dumbo. I've paired Gizmo and Bloody Mary, so fingers crossed for babies!
