i live in an apartment building, and once i get the girls tomorrow, i would like to take them outside and enjoy eating grass, and of course they will be in a play pen so they don't escape. my neighbours say not to because they cn get ticks and fleas from the grass, can they? the girls will be my only pets.

I've seen pigs with fleas, so they definitely can get them, but it's not as common. If you live in an apartment complex, you should find out if they use any pesticide or insecticides in the grass as that would be dangerous for the pigs to eat.

They can get fleas and ticks but they aren't as common as with cats and dogs because they aren't outside as much and don't get exposed to "strangers" (i.e. pigs they don't live with) the way that dogs out walking would.
However, they should be fine to go out on the grass. Give them a thorough check afterwards but they should be okay.
As Pickles said, just make sure the area you choose is safe - can you be sure there are no petrol fumes or dog/cat fouling or poisonous plants?
