My lady Ruby is going to the vet this evening to get checked out for a UTI. I noticed that she was crying a little when peeing and her bum is a bit damp, so she's going to get checked out this evening. Fingers crossed it goes okay!
Normally I would just start her on antibiotics and cranberry juice, but Ruby did have a similar problem before where she was crying when peeing. At that time she didn't have any sign of infection in her urine and an x-ray showed that she had no stones or sludge in her bladder, so I would like to get her double-checked by the vet, just in case there's something more sinister going on.

Sorry I may sound a little naive but what is a UTI? And I really hope she is ok; let us know how she is getting on!

She got on well. The vet had a really good feel of her bladder and said he was 99.9% sure there was no stone as he got in there really well. He said her bladder walls were a bit thickened, which would indicate some irritation and he managed to get a small urine sample which displayed elevated protein levels, all pointing to a bladder infection. She's on antibiotics for the next 10-12 days, as well as metacam to help with the pain. She does have two very small lumps near one of her nipples. They seem like small sebaceous cysts so we're just to keep an eye on them. Otherwise she's in good form. She's still acting 100% normal, but it usually takes a lot to make a pig show their illness. She's still bulling her way to the front of the queue when it comes to veggie time, so she should be just fine Oh and wiggypiggys, never be afraid to ask questions. That's how we all learned!

Thanks!
She's doing really well. She actually hasn't cried a single time (that I've heard anyway) since going on the metacam so at least she's more comfortable.

You were wise to get her checked by a vet better safe than sorry. I am glad she just had a UTI and she is doing well.

Loria once had a tiny UTI as a result of her bloat or the medication (?). I brought her to a resturant and when I took her to take a potty break... orange urine...?
Please don't think I go around sniffing pig urine all the time, but her pee smelled... different.
Cranberry juice is hard to get in China. It is like, ten USD for a little carton. But before we went out to go get it the next day (It was closed so I just fed Loria some bell peppers and water) her pee had cleared up. Loria's my little sweetie pie!
