Argh. this post will be all over the place, bear with me.
I was in the middle of a move, getting back in school and working. And I have a young son. Sooo I asked a friend to keep my piggies for about 6 weeks until I had stuff set up. She lives about an hour away so I didn't see them while they were gone. All the sudden she tells me that 2 of my males died for no reason. I was upset and everything, asked about food, ect but everything seemed spot on. I told her if any other ones seemed off at all to call me and I would give her vet my credit card info to have them seen. For the next week and a half she told me everyone was good. Then randomly the next day she tells me that 1 of my females and 2 full litters have passed on. I made immediate arrangements to o pick them up and called the vet on my way. By the time I got there 2 more females and a male had passed away at this point I had no idea what was going on. I'm so devastated. Sooo as soon as I got there my guess was scurvy. Had them checked out and I was right. It was too late for 4 of the 8 remaining but my 4 girls are doing fine now. It turns out all she was feeding them was hay and grass. I have no idea how someone I thought I could trust could be so irresponsible, I feel horrible for my babies having to go through that, And I feel even worse that I took on more then I could handle and put them in harms way. I will not be breeding anytime in the near future or getting new piggies. I'm concentrating on getting my girls 100% back to normal.
RIP, play well at the bride my babies. <3
Not handling all of this very well, that's why I haven't been around for a few months.
