Ok so I just got home from work and noticed Fudge is bunny hopping. This is the first time I've noticed her doing it. I took her out and can't see any injury, she's not quite 3 years old so surely too young for arthritis? and she's not a satin, she seems well in herself, eating and all that, she has lost 25g this week but her weight usually fluctuates anyway. She also seems to be having trouble reaching up to use her hay rack so I've taken that away for now to make life easy for her. What do you guys think? Could it be od or arthritis? Could she have just been over vigorous when running around? They have ramps now and all 3 have a tendency to launch themselves off from 2/3 of the way up! I'm working full days (Inc weekend) till Friday afternoon so that's the earliest I could get her to the vet if she needs to go! I feel so bad for my baby girl, she doesn't seem to be in pain but she must be hurting somewhere or she wouldn't be hopping.

I've just got home from work again and been watching her, I've noticed that she's holding her front paw up like it's sore, again there's nothing obvious to see but could she maybe have hurt it jumping of the ramp and maybe she's hoping with her back legs so she doesn't have to put the front one down?

It sounds like she has hurt her paw alright. It's probably just a sprain. My vet showed me a way to tell if it's serious - if you hold your pig and make them "wheelbarrow" (where you hold their bodies and force them to walk with their front paws) on a surface that isn't too slippy that'll tell you if it's just a sprain or something worse. Chances are she'll put the leg down when she has to. If she refuses to put any weight on it then a vet visit would probably be best.
If it's just a sprain then there's nothing you can really do for her, just let it come right in its own time. If you really want to you can ask your vet for painkillers but my own vet doesn't recommend them for sprains like that because they can over-exert themselves on their sore legs if they can't feel that it's sore, whereas they'll rest it if they can feel that it's not right.
If she jumped from too high that would explain how she hurt it. Otherwise, do you have one of those spinning hay balls in the cage by any chance? I had them and that's how my little Acheron hurt his leg, he got his paw stuck between the wires and hurt it getting free.

My Terra started hopping when he had a sprained front paw. He hopped for three weeks. I had to take him to the vet and get pain meds for him it was so bad. He is fine now though, it healed. He injured it jumping from his hidey.

Thanks for replying guys, she has started walking on it a little again so I think she's ok and I'm not taken her to the vet. I'll keep an eye on her to make sure she's ok. Thank you for your thoughts

That's good. It'll take a little time but it'll heal itself.
