Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I have joined to learn more about how to best care for our new piggies. I have two kids who recently adopted 2 young (3-4 months old) females, one is an albino Abyssinian named Ruby (because of the red eyes) and the other one appears to be a Silkie/Sheltie named Pie. While they adopted the piggies, I am the primary caregiver to ensure their needs are being met. I look for ward to learning from everyone!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Guinea pigs need pellets, unlimited timothy hay and plenty of water. They also need veggies every day about 1 cup per pig per day. Start slowly introducing them to veggies a little at a time. Guinea pigs need vitamin c so be sure to include veggies with vit c in them like bell pepper(not hot or spicy pepper) I believe there is a list on this forum of piggie safe veggies and fruits. It takes time and patience to tame a guinea pig so if your pigs are a little skittish they will ususaly come around with time. My little boy Terra was so scared when we first got him he didn't come out of his hidey now he waits by the door to be patted! I think you will enjoy your guinea pigs very much. We got my guinea pig for my son and I ended up getting very attached to him. They are very gentle and loving creatures. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
