Hey all
I've been showing, breeding and caring for national champions for years now. I also run the only guinea pig rescue in South Africa.
I've seen it all and been through every possible piggy situation from emergency C-sections to snot noses.
But this has me stumped:
I've had Storm (a black & white pedigree Peruvian sow) since she was 4 weeks old. She's nearly 3 now.
2 Months ago directly after eating some spinach which she eats once a week we nearly lost her to bloat. Rushed her into the vets and they were able to save her.
The vet said to cut out veg for a few weeks and reintroduce it slowly along with her daily probiotics.
3 Days ago...Same thing happens. Bloat again!!!
The vet has now named it chronic bloat due to an allergy to veggies.
Have any of you ever dealt with this?
Thanks all.

Have you tried different veggies? And are you giving all the vegetables a good wash to get rid of any pesticides? It seems very unusual.

I feed only organic veg and yes I always wash them. I have tried a few different ones BUT she gets sick now everytime I feed her veggies. She's totally fine on hay and pellets though. I'm so stumped.

That sound so strange. You could try avoiding anything too watery (like cucumber) and give things like carrot or swede. Perhaps that would help?
