Hi,
I have a first-time pregnant guinea pig that conceived her pregnancy on August 19 (today being October 15). Yesterday I realized that she appears to have injured her left rear leg, or hip, or something associated with the left leg in any case. She did not have this injury on the October 13. She holds it up instead of placing weight on it when she moves around, and is having difficulty with moving herself around her enclosure. Her positioning when she lies down is generally different as well, she mostly lies with her rear legs under her instead of stretching out into different positions occasionally.
Does anyone have any experience with anything like this? Things on my mind: I'm wondering if she'll be able to stand up as is needed for the contractions and deliveries, and wondering about the babies getting to nurse if pain in her leg interferes with her ability to sit up for them. I have concerns about taking her on a stressful vet trip at this stage of the pregnancy, and I'm wondering what a vet could even do, if I went that route.
She is eating normally at the moment.
Edit: It's possible that she struck some lower part of her leg against a piece of wood in the enclosure while galloping into it, and hurt the leg that way. I don't want to positively say that's what it was, but as I think back, I did see that happen around that time.

Ah ... very dead forum. Too bad, there's a lot of good content on some of the pages here.
I was able to work out how to handle the problem with a cavy vet.
