I have never been as amazed, emotional, sad and happy all at the same time as I was this morning. I went in to the dining room just the check on Rosa before I headed off up to school with Aimee my 9 year old daughter when I noticed Rosa had a baby half way out of her. I was like OMG Aimee get the camera quick Rosa is having her babies lets get some pics. Aimee rushed to get the camera as we watched her pushing her first baby out. I snapped away but then realized the baby wasn't breathing. I was saying oh what shall we do and Aimee was in floods of tears crying. I reached for my phone and rung Heather asking her what shall I do is there anything I can do to get it breathing. She said try warming it with a hairdryer so I sent Aimee rushing off again for the hairdryer. I stayed there for a good 5 mins trying to revive the baby but to no avail It seemed to be blind and a little large but in all other ways seemed formed. A lovely cream girl I discovered afterwards. We put her in a box and went back to check on Rosa, by the time we got back she was just cleaning up her second born a lovely buff boar. Here are the pics of the birth it's ok there wasn't much blood. This was Rosa last night she could hardly lift herself up to eat from her food bowl Now the birth Now the second pup being cleaned up as we missed the birth whilst trying to revive the first one We are calling him Bobby. I feel so honoured that she let me take so many pics, she is a brilliant mum and I am glad I could be there whilst she was having them even though it was upsetting to lose the first baby. I left her alone with him for a few hours after that then she let me take him out and weigh him He is 93g which is not a bad weight is it? Dawn

Wow Dawn weren't you lucky seeing them being born, I thought they mainly had their babies at night when it was nice and quiet. Sorry the first baby didn't make it, but the second is gorgeous he looks rather large next to his mum, It is amazing that they can do so much so quickly after being born Karen

Aww Dawn what a lovely experience for you to watch. Such amazing pics too. I am so sorry the other little one didn't make it but what a wonderful way to capture Bobby coming into the world. Rosa looks wonderful. I watched Marble give birth 15 months ago and she had 3. Poppy is the one we kept.
it is so lovely to watch isn't it? It's my 2nd anniversary of joining GPW today.

Awww... those babies are gorgeous Sar Do you know their sex yet? I had a lovely suprise tonight when I came into the caviary. Precious the piggy I picked up at Newark gave birth to 3 babies, one was sadly dead but the other two are doing well. 1 boy and 1 girl. Boy is a crested PEW and the girl is a PEW. We have called them Faith-Marie & Fonsi (after Kims Fonsi that died) hope you don't mind Kim. They are both good weights too girl 102g and boy 100g. Pics to follow soon. Dawn

RIP little girl For future reference, if you hold the baby in the palm of your hand and do a sort of CPR (do some gentle pushes and rubs and use a straw to breathe into the nose and mouth) as well as a hairdryer once the baby starts to respond. And congratulations on Bobby and witnessing the birth!
