Yesterday evening I found Sasha had just given birth to 3 babies, one of which a lovely lilac boar didn't seem to be breathing so I picked him up and feared the worst. I started massaging his chest. When I did this he started to gasp for breath so I put my mouth over his nose & mouth and gently blew. I did this twice more and then began to massage his chest again. I had been doing this for about 5 mins when he suddenly began to get stronger. He was no longer gasping and he started to sit up. I dried him gently with the hairdryer on a low heat and he seemed to be much stronger. I cuddled him for a little while longer and he began to wriggle as if he wanted to get back to him mum so I placed him next to mum and she began cleaning him I decided to keep watch on him for a little while longer to see how he went and he seemed to get stronger and stronger so I decided to leave him and let his mum look after him and his litter mates. I checked on him a little while later and he was still snuggled up next tom mum I am so glad he looks like he will be ok. He was doing well this morning so hopefully he will be fine. I have called him Lucky for obvious reasons He was lucky I went out at that moment and not any later or I don't think he would be here now. I don't know if I did everything the right way but whatever I did seemed to work so I am just glad I tried to revive him and didn't give up. Dawn

I didn't think I just acted on instinct just did it. Couldn't let him go without trying to help him. I am just so pleased my fumbling attempt at lifesaving worked Dawn

We have just had a similar experience with 2 rex sows that were almost dead when Delma went into the shed. Got out the hot water bottles and wrapped them in towels and gave them mouth to mouth because they were gasping for breath. It took a little while but they did come round. They are 3 weeks old now and very lively healthy babies. It feels good when you have managed to save them but the trouble is you don't wan t to part with them, so I think our 2 will be staying here at Delukem and I bet yours will be staying with you as well. Well done Dawn
