I have some young boars all born 2 and half weeks ago and they have been humming around mum and sisters for about 3 or 4 days now so I am worried. They are so big and well developed that I was wondering if you thought they could come away from mum a little earlier than 3 weeks?
They will be 3 weeks old on Thursday, is tomorrow too soon to take them away do you think? I don't want any unwanted pregnancies but...

well i dont really know squat about breeding or weaning dawn, but the best thing you ever did was letting benji come here early. he turned out to be a great little guy. and got used to us really quickly, and doesnt ever bite or nibble. i know you will do what is best for your babies and personally i think a day or so should be ok

I would split them up Dawn, I dont know if they are your swiss babies but I have had problems with them, they become fertile so early, if you are worried about them feeding give them a dish of bread and actimel. Its only 2 days early after all

Well I sat watching them last night and one of them in particular (he is one of the biggest at almost 300g) kept trying to mount mum so I took them out, right or wrong I don't want to chance it. They are very big for their age (ALL Pew's incidentally) must be the way I feed them up hehe. Like you say Heather it's only a few days early so what harm can it do. They are eating well on their own anyway so they should be ok. I have all 5 baby boars together now and they seem fine, all running about and exploring their new home Dawn

I am going through the same thing and weaned my four baby boars 3 days shy of being 3 weeks.. One boar was trying to mount mom and sister. Also one of my aby boars is already strutting and purring to mom and sister at only 11 days.. I am weaning the two boars on Sat when they are 2 weeks as they are really big and eat very well on their own. I just would hate to see the baby sow get pregnant at such a young age..
