Looby (who is skittish) has flown out of the hutch today She's hit the floor face down snapped off both top 2 teeth & split her lip. I've given her 0.2ml Baytril & bathed her lip in salt water. Should i take her to the vet or just keep an eye on her? I've no experience of broken teeth Niki x

I've had broken teeth a few times (pigs not mine) if they have broken off right at the very top of teeth then you will need to keep an eye on the other set as they will grow too long also you will need to feed grated veg until they have grown down and the pig can eat again. dried Grass and picked fresh grass is also good
It takes about a week to grow back

Yes, we had a pig who broke his top teeth. At first they bled a tiny bit, then I noticed they were wiggly. The next day they fell out. I knew they would grow back but wasn't sure if he would be able to eat, but he actually did. They grew back within a week or two and one tooth was longer than the other so I just took a pair of fingernail clippers and cut them even and he was fine.
I'd just keep an eye out. Of course if anything looks wrong or you feel the need to, take her to the vet!

Her teeth haven't bled & they've broken off just below the gum line. I've syringe-fed her to make sure her back teeth don't over grow & grated her carrot, all the other veg is normally chopped small anyway. I have watched her nibbling/sucking on a baton of beetroot, bless her Her lips are already healing nicely & i'll be monitoring her teeth daily Thanks for the advice everyone ;D Niki x

Poor Looby !!! I only saw this post now, Niki. I have never had this happen, but it was interesting to read all the posts, advice etc. I didn't know that piggies teeth would grow again, so I've learnt something new ! Hope Looby's soon ok, Niki. Poor little girl ! I was so glad to hear that she was nibbling on beetroot. Bless her ! Irene. xx

Thank you both so much. I am over the moon, to look at them now, you'd not know anything had happened apart from them being a little shorter than they were, aren't piggies just amazing Niki x

Pip used to have terrible snapped teeth from chewig on his bars but now we have got him out of the habit they've gone back to normal, you wouldn't even know he'd snapped them!
