I've got Albie & Maddie both with a fungal infection, treated both with a CocoNeem Melt last week & plucked the pair of 'em, they now have matching bald backs Hamish has a baboon bum cos i thought he was starting with it, treated him too but it seems his only prob was a dirty grease gland that cause the hair loss. Sorry Hamish Paranoia then set in & i treated Ester (she's now sporting a short-cropped hair-dood) & Bijou too but thankfully they DON'T have it & neither does anyone else. Howie seems to have developed a slight head tilt & Fitz has a sore on his lip - out came the Blistex for him Albie & Maddies 2nd Melt this week. I've had piggy dirty looks thrown at me from every direction but a big bowl of veggies works well as bribery ;D Niki x

hehehe. poor piggies. Their dear mum torturing them. lol
Your a good mama for taking extra good care of them. They might be giving you dirty looks but they know that they feel better. I know head tilts might be a sign of an ear infection so you might want to get wee Howie checked out.

I hope they all get better soon Niki. As Rachel says I'd be tempted to get Howie to the vets to check out that head tilt.
What are these melts out of interest?

Heehee - I love your sense of humour , NIkki !! Can just imagine all the looks your piggies are giving you, but because we love them, I think they realise we're only trying to help them. Am so worried about the head-tilt....My Toffee (RIP) developed that when he got meningitis....Hope ALL your piggies are better soon.....Lots of little hugs to your wee clan...Irene. xx

I think maybe you should take a trip to the vets Niki it could be an ear infection. Either that or he has had a mini stroke. I hope all your piggies are well very soon, it is such a worry when they get sick isn't it?

Hi Kathryn They're from Gorgeous Guineas & have replaced the Oil Soaks, i have to say they're a lot easier to apply & you don't have slippery greasy piggies ;D I've got some ear drops for Howie-pops; i'll try him with them & if i don't see any difference in a couple of days we'll be visiting the vets Niki x

I hope all your piggies are well very soon, it is such a worry when they get sick isn't it? Dawn It was manic!! My brain went into total overload & i convinced myself all hairloss was a fungal infection. Picture the scene - piggies being rushed into the house & greased, they had to wait 20 mins before bathing. Then another came in; inbetween this i'm hutch cleaning. You can just imagine the state i was in. In the end i had 6 wet/damp piggies in the kitchen - Snoopy in the living room on "drying duties" & me with the hair dryer. I finally got them all sorted & put to bed (in clean hutches) at 1am! Mini stroke-that's made me think cos when he lived in the house Howie would stare into space & then plop over; the shock of him hitting the floor would make him jump back up again & i did wonder if he may have had some sort of fit Think we'll be going to the vets just to make sure ;D Oh & Albie & Maddie's hair's growing nicely until i start again tomorrow LOL Niki x

Well I think poor Howie does sound like he has had a stroke in which case the vet wont be able to help. Mind you ear mites can cause a piggy to fit.
I hope all your piggies will be ok soon Niki. I know how worrying it can be.

I know how worrying it can be. Dawn Thank you Dawn. I'm happy to say Fitz now has beautiful scab-free lips, that was prob caused by too much tomato/apple. The ear drops i have are for inflammation/mites but as much as i can see of his inner ear it's not inflamed & he's not scratching so best thing will be to take him & get a definite diagnosis & poor Albie & Maddie's skin isn't inflamed at all & the hair is growing back..........until tomorrow when i have to do it all again Niki x

Hi Nikki....Just thinking of you, and wondering how things are going with all your piggies...Love, Irene. Xx Very well ;D Fitz still has lovely scab-free lips, Albie & Maddie's hair is growing on nicely & when i treat them again yesterday no hair came out from Maddie & very little from Albie so i think it's gone (fingers crossed). Howie still has his slight tilt tho' it's not as tilted if that makes sense. Everyone else in the shed is fine, thank goodness ;D It's my OH Snoopy who's the patient now, he had a shoulder op on Tuesday & is in pain with his arm in a sling. Tho' i have to say he wears my patience thin, now if he could morph into a piggy ............... ;D ;D Niki x
