My Abby, Huxley, has an extra toe on one of his back feet (which i know is a birth defect). It's only attached by a small piece of skin but has a blood supply cos the nail needs clipping when i do the rest. It doesn't cause him any discomfort and doesn't hinder him in any way. I'm reluctant to have it removed because of the risks with the anaesthetic. Am i best to just leave alone? What would you do? Here's a pic Thanks, Niki

Yes I would just leave it alone. The only thing to keep an eye on is just incase he gets it caught anywhere and tears it off.

Our dog has one of these and it's called a dew claw. Just leave it alone but as dawn said make sure if it gets caught on anything you clean it up and maybe put a bandaid or wrap on it.

Apply pressure that normally stops the bleeding if it does happen.

its REALLY commen with abys, mostly they are removed at birth by breeders before the blood supply develops (although I could never bring myself to do so), as Dawn says, leave it be, I have had many with this extra toe and they have had no problems, its just something to keep an eye on
