Lily-Belle is very sick

I am devistated, Lily-Belle is not eating

She had diarohea yesterday so I gave her a dose of Kaolin and that cleared up but now she has stopped eating. I took her to the vet who said she couldn't feel any lumps but she is not looking good.
I am force feeding her but I really do think it is just a matter of time before I loose her

She is sat in one corner not moving, I am so worried I can't think straight.

Thanks everyone you are so kind, I really hope she does pull through.

I have been syringe feeding her for the last couple of days and this morning she has been nibbling a bit of hay but not much and no veggies

She has gained 5g with my help not much I know but I am thinking if I can get her weigh up then hopefully she will start feeling a bit better and may start eating by herself again.

Come on Lily-Belle I need you to get better I love you so much

I am off to the vets again tonight so will let you know how we got on when I get back.

Have you been feeding her mushed up guinea food. I know with the pets at home food you get, you can add hot water to make it very soft and feed them that through a syringe, I don't know if that is what you are already doing.

Bad news about Lily-Belle, she has to stay at the vets to have some intensive care.

They will put her on a drip as she is very dehydrated and thin. They will monitor her and give her a series of controlled antibiotics and so on.

They will ring me tomorrow to let me know how she went over night. They said if she responds she will be able to come home with my expert care to take over but if not she may have to be PTS

As you can imagine I am beside myself with worry, I hope she will make it but the vet says to be honest she is pretty bad and it could go either way

Roll on tomorrow I know I won’t be able to rest tonight and will be on pins every time the phone rings tomorrow. I can’t stop crying.

Dawn---I came over off of Laura's forum knowing you were probably more up to date over here with all of the news. I am so sorry to hear your baby is not doing well. The place for her right now though is probably the vets were she can hopefully get back on her feet again and be home in no time.

Did they actually diagose what is going on with her?? Did they perform the ultrasound?

Something has to be going on to make her feel so crummy and experience the weight lose and lose of hair. Is she a older pig?

They said it could be a gut infection, no they didn't do an ultrasound, she is too poorly I think.

I am really hoping they can pull her through though with the treatment. I will know more tomorrow, lets hope it's good news.

Well there is good news tonight, she is home and looking much brighter. She has had a nibble at some cabbage and it eating hay and drinking water. Yippee!!! I am so pleased, all your prayers must have got through. Thanks everyone for all you best wishes

I am still syringing food into her to help her out but the signs are positive. I am hoping she will go from strength to strength and come through this.

I have my Lily-Belle back home yay, come on Lily get back to your normal cheeky self very soon

Dawn that's wonderful! I have been putting off coming on here till now because I didn't want to hear any more bad news but this is great! This is what I came up with:

I was thinking about ways that she might have gotten sick. My first and only thought...

Her belly fur chewing.

If you think about it, it fits. Her belly rubs on the ground which has urine, poos, and other stuff that could be bad inside her tummy.

But...

Then I started thinking of what Heather had said. About how "heavier" piggies lose hair on their stomachs. So then it didn't fit so well. But if she was chewing the hair off of herself that might have been the cause.

I am overly happy that she is doing so well! I will continue praying for her!
