As most of you will know Lottie lost a lot of weight & hasn't been eating her dry food or hay. Someone suggested i try her with Metatone Tonic, it's for humans & aids recovery after colds/flu. It tastes revolting but Lottie seems to like it. It's given by syringe 0.5ml per day for 7 days then 0.3ml for 7 days. Lottie had her first dose yesterday & today has eaten from both her hay & dry food bowl. ;D At first i thought i was imagining it so i rearranged both bowls & again they'd both been disturbed. She's also drank more water today, i've been syringing water into her & she's taken more of an interest in her surroundings as there are poops dotted here & there & these poops are huge in comparison to what they have been - i'm becoming a piggy poop expert ;D Since she's been ill she'd just been staying in her house & pooping in there. I'm now hoping this is the start of things to come & tonight she made a brrrr or a r r r r r r noise at me inbetween feeds. I hope this is a happy noise but i'm not bothered if she was telling me to bu**er off cos she was saying something. I'm so happy, i can hardly contain myself. I'll keep you posted on her progress Niki x

Thank you everyone. I didn't know either Kally - there are quite a lot that piggies can have, i'm learning lol. Miss Lottie lost 3g overnight which is nothing compared to the usual 30g & today chattered her teeth at me, hid her head in the towel & started nibbling the food off the towel - i have everything crossed that this is the start of her recovery. Niki x

OH wow I am so pleased Well done for not giving up on her Niki Thank you Dawn & how could i? She's one of my babies. Now, because mardy Maddie won't accept her, i'm going to look for her a nice neutered boarfriend, that'll surely perk her up Niki x

Been to the vets with Lottie today, 2wks ago she was 697g on their scales, today she was 666g. The vet thinks it is her teeth but couldn't see anything by looking, she thinks Lotties teeth maybe growing down into her jawbone & if she's right will have to be pts She said i couldn't keep on syringe feeding her (which i knew) & asked what happens if i don't - she loses weight is the answer. I have noticed that she now eats with a side to side movement which concerned me slightly & last night she didn't eat all her veg, infact maybe half of it. The decision i have to make is do i have her x-rayed, which apparantly carries a great risk to Lottie because of her fluctuating weight or not. If i don't & she continues to lose weight i will have to have her pts & if i do & the vet is right she will still have to be pts. What if i have her x-rayed & she doesn't come thru the anaesthetic this happened to my wonderful boy Edd, he had an op, came round only to have a massive heart attack 5 mins before i got to him . Anaesthetics scare me! Rightly or wrongly i've told the vet i want to wait until monday, if i'm able to adopt Bubble, it may encourage Lottie to eat (i'm grasping at straws) & then she won't have to go thru' anything. Niki xx

Oh Niki what awful news ... I really don't know what to say.
Could you discuss your concerns regarding the anethetic and may be they could try taking any xray with you holding her.. I don't know if this is possible.
Is she in distress when you syringe feed her.. If not is this something you could or would be willing to do for a long period of time.. as long as you both feel you are coping.
I am sorry I can't be of any help. By the way I don't think you were wrong to wait until Monday, if she isn't in any immediate danger or discomfort, you are doing the best for her by covering all the options.
Thinking of you both

Thinking of you both Karen Thank you Karen No she doesn't seem to be stressed, she does bite on the towel half way as if to say "enough" which makes me smile. It's me who gets stressed more & it's so time consuming. Last night i tried blended cucumber added to her pellets, well she was covered - just like a baby she spat it back at me so i had to bath her. I know she's not happy as she should be because she sits all day in her pigloo, which is where she pees & poops & takes her veg to but i think this is because she's lonely, not because she's in pain I am so hoping a friend will do the job & as for me holding her while they x-ray her i'd have to ask, i don't know if they'd let me I will let you know tomorrow's decision (oh i really hope it's a yes for both our sakes) Niki x

I really hope Lottie will be ok Niki you deserve some good luck. Dawn

Dawn Thank you Dawn Someone suggested stopping the syringe feeding & giving her lots of veggies that she will eat, thinking the food i'm syringing is filling her up leaving her not wanting to eat anything else. I'm now gonna try that (haven't fed her tonight) & see what happens - i'll try anything at this moment in time. I'll keep you all posted. These are a couple of pics of Lottie i took tonight - does she look "too" thin? Niki x

I am thinking about you both I am Dawn & convince myself that she's not too thin but when i look at those pics i can't deny it & she's lost 15g overnight. I just don't know what to do. I'm pinning my hopes on it being lonliness but if it isn't....................... Niki x

What an awful thing for you to have to decide on maybe it is loneliness that is causing the problem and not a teeth problem I really hope so... and big hugs to lottie
