I've just read about strokes on Peter Gurney's website, and it's made me upset about Peggy,as he said that pigs can make a full recovery from a stroke, with only a slight head tilt, but she had hers in the morning, and although I did see her eating there was no way she was going to be able to drink, and when I took her to the vet her head was completely on one side and on the floor,to me there was no way she was going to recover. Perhaps I did'nt give her a chance, but when the vet saw her he agreed with me. I took her to the vet in the afternoon mainly to give her a chance to get a bit better, but she did'nt. Did I do the right thing?, or should I have left her?

Well I can't say for sure because I didn't see how bad your piggy was Sandra, but I have had 3 piggies that have had varying degrees of stroke. Bobby the first stroke piggy I had was very bad he had three fits and then a stroke and sadly died Then there was Hazel who is still with us today, yes her head tilts quite a bit but not too much as to cause her discomfort or stop her doing the things she needs to do. She is one of those piggies that everything seems to happen to. You name it she has recovered from it. Then there is Rodney Hannah's silver Agouti Boar, we thought we would lose him at one point, he got very thin because he couldn't feed properly but we fed him & nursed him back to health and now he is almost totally better with only the slightest head tilt. Only you and your vet could have made the decision that you did Sandra. I am sure it was the right decision to stop her suffering. Dawn
