Hello! I don't have a guinea pig right now, and can't really get one for atleast 3 years SOB! But I'm hoping to foster, and am thinking of volunteering in my local RSPCA as soon as I can. Am i still allowed to be here, even though I dont have a guinea pig?

Hello, My name is Angie, and I do not have a piggie as of yet either, but I am doing my research as I do with any purchase, whether it be animal or anything!! LOL, just reading up and learning about piggies right now, have the dh making me a huge cage, based on the C&C type cages........I know they need their room, will be getting 2 of course as they don't like being alone; however, the Rule regarding getting them from pet stores, I have searched for 2 weeks trying to find one to adopt in my area and there just aren't any available, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm glad I found this forum.

I hope you get lots of info about piggies here and that you remember to show them off to us when you get them As for getting piggies from a petshop, there are no breeders at all where I live and any rescues never have piggies so I got my pigs from pet shops and I don't have any regrets at all. Pet shop piggies need love too! You should just be a little more careful as some petshops are not very good at telling the gender of their pigs so you might come home with a girl and a boy OR with a girl who has been living with boys and is possibly pregnant. Just to be prepared in case that happens!

Thanks Orlaith! I will keep that in mind, I have found one rescue after alot of searching, and she has 13 males!!!! WOW, really wanted to get some girls; however, they are in much need of a loving home, so I'm going there this weekend to check them out, she already has several of them "bonded" in groups of two, so that's a great help. I am learning sooooo much from this site, thanks so much to ALL you piggie owners for sharing and caring to teach us noobs the ropes, they are such cute and wonderful pets from what I've read and can't wait to get mine.

Hi, just to back up what Orlaith said about petshop piggies needing love too- i have bought from pet shops in the past and haven't had any trouble.I would love to always take on rescued ones but that's not always possible. I am also a huge fan of boars so i think you'd love it if you got a bonded pair of boys. Have fun choosing!

Hi, i am not yet a mummy to any piggies as yet, though i do have a 6month, a terrible 2 and a troublesome 14 year old!!! Have been looking into getting a couple of piggies for a while now, have done so much surfing on the net, and dragging kids and hubby everywhere just to look at some. I must be driving them all up the wall, though my 14yr old(Karmen) is keen to get one too Hopefully, my wishes will come true soon- as soon as i can decide which ones i want to take home!!! I love this site too, i could spend all day looking at piccies- Am i MAD? Lol

You're not mad, it's the cuteness of the piggies that pulls you in!

Hi,
My name is Dawn. I have 4 piggies, all boys - in two cages! Two are brothers - called Rabbit and Dr Mambo (my children named them...) who are about 10 months old and two are ones I seem to have acquired. They are not related. They rea called Stu and Sandy and are both about 5 months old.
I joined this forum looking for advice for Dr M who has been very poorly. He had a massive abscess on his rump that was very resistant to treatment. It has taken weeks to get him better. He had a final trip to the vets today and seems to be really on the mend. At one point I thought we were going to lose him.
We also have three dogs and three cats. Oh, and not forgetting my husband and three boys!
Dawn

I am not sure how to post a message so I hope this is OK. My name is Mary I am 65 and live in Gloucestershire. I joined the group because I am hopefully, after more years than i care to remember, going to have some guinaes in my life again. I am at the moment searching for a breeder of good quality Teddies who will be willing to start me off. I have contacted a few breeders, and all have been really kind. One breeder not too far from me is being especially helpful and asking around for me, so maybe I will be lucky soon. I look forward to hearing all about everyones 'piggies' Mary x

Hi thanks Dawn - hope Im in the right place now - not used a forum before, but am having fun reading cutiecavies pages and taking in as much info as poss. I too have been doing lots of research on piggies and it has taken a while to find some from a rescue shelter, but the search is over!! I am picking up my two tomorrow!! soooo excited. They are Petal (girl piggy) and Fudge (boy piggy). Fudge has been neutered and they decided to put hime in with Petal and they are getting on fine so I will bring them home together. I went to visit them yesterday and they were making lots of happy piggy noises. . Will let you know how they settle in and will be using the forum for new mum advice Debra
