Hi everyone.... Dale seems a bit off colour tonight. He feels warmer than usual, and his ears are quite hot. He's been doing green, mushy poops this evening, although he's drinking and eating hay and grains. I've stopped the veg for now, and will get our vet, Eamonn , to check him , and Charlie , over in the morning. Hope my boy will be ok.... Hope I haven't overdone the veg !! Will let you know how we get on... Irene.

Hmmm...can piggies run a fever? Or overheated? Maybe he was runnin around alot before you felt him? Maybe he's got a lil bug and just isnt feelin well. But, if he's eating and drinkin on his own that shows promise. Maybe he ate something that disagreed with him? The green poo makes me think maybe you are right on in your guess, and maybe the veggies are the coulprit? Or, could have gotten into some old or mouldy hay? I would keep a watchful eye on your boy, but it doesn't sound too worrying long as he's eating and drinking normally. Give him some hugs and I hope he gets better soon and stops worrying his mama so! Keep us updated will ya? <<hugs>>

oops......did something wrong with trying to qoute....sorry ! Anyway, I was just going to point out something interesting about fever in piggies. Piggies can indeed have a raise in body temp if they aren't well. According to our vet, if you touch a piggy's ears to your lips and they feel very warm, chances are they are ill. Obviously if there are other symptoms present too. He also always checks our piggies temps rectally. My first piggy, Toffee , had a raging temp before he died from meningitis a few yrs ago.....Very sad.... So this is why I guess I'm so over-vigilant with ny babies now. Nice thing is that, our vet is excellent with cavies, and never makes me feel silly for bringing in the boys for a check over. Dale is very perky this morning, but still has very smelly, green poo. Will let you all know later what the vet has to say. Irene.x

Well...Eamonn examined both my boys, and feels that Dale's upset was probably due to some "dodgy" carrot he ate yesterday. He doesn't have a temp, and is drinking loads of water, and eating his grains and hay. His poops are still a bit mushy, but not as bad as they were. So,hopefully all will be well. Irene.
