Does anyone's guinea pig shiver? My little guy was just shivering and I was wondering if that's normal. Is he cold? How do I warm him up? He stopped now, after some cuddle time.

I have only ever seen a pig shiver if it had a cold , URI or after a bath . Has your pig been sneezing of got any discharge from its nose ? Could the cage be in a draughty or damp part of the room ?

He only shivered for about a minute yesterday, but he has been sneezing since we got him. It has slowed down a lot lately. I haven't heard him sneeze in a long time. The entire house is somewhat cold. I wouldn't think it would be cold enough for him to get sick, but the house doesn't hold heat in well.

I keep my guinea pigs outside and they dont shiver , i think your pig must have a cold or URI he might need some meds from a vet to clear it up .

Some of mine do it occassionally. I think it is when they are warmer than you then you pick them up and your hand feel cold to them. That's my theory anyway because I always have cold hands lol

Are you sure it's shivering or is the vibrating thing they do when they're scared? If you had hold of him at the time he might do it (but not if you just witnessed it in his cage or whatevr, that probably is shivering). Percy vibrates when i'm rubbing the coconeem melt oil into his coat before a bath, i take it to mean he's protesting and trying to convince me he's terrified so i'll put him down rather than that he is actually terrified. They do it in short bursts so that might be it.

My Pepper shivers, first one that does, but she is a complete nervous wreck ...bless her.

I've realized it mostly when he's cooing, but today he seems to be doing it more. What temperature should it be inside the house?
