Hi, Having had a good look at one of my guinea pig's toes, I've noticed one of them seems to be growing to the side at an angle. Is this normal or is this a potential problem? Thanks!

Hi, Don't worry, unless it is curling right round and looking like it might go back in and make his foot sore it's nothing to worry about. My first 2 both had very curly claws that always looked strange but never caused them any bother. Whereas Percy has nice neat straight ones that took forever to grow. I put it down to what surface they spend most of their time on. In the wild rough terrain would wear them down but mine are no soft vetbed and then smooth tiles so neither wears the claws and they skid on the tiles when running. Just keep an eye on them for when they need trimming.

My boars kept in plastic cages have nails that grow curly or funny shaped but my sows that run free in my shed never need their nails clipped and are perfectly shaped

My boars have curly claws, but Esme, who lives with one of them has perfectly straight and lovely claws.
