I'm sorry but this is serious, you have to act immediately. Give him a human treatment for diarrhoea by syringe. Are you in the States because they might have different names there but Immodium is one. You also need to force feed him because if he stops eating he won't last long. Read the illness pages for diarrhoea. A vet would give him various treatments but it's useless if there's too long a gap. I lost 2 this way. Kaolin is best if you can get it, it's cheap, liquid form from chemists. TRy feeding pureed veg or veg only baby food or his fave treats if he'll have them, anything to keep his digestive system working. Good luck. Plenty of guineas have survived diarhhoea but time is most definietly of the essence.

yes, i would agree with abby, time is of the utmost importance, diarrohea kills piggies very very quickly, you need to get some food into him, i would lay off the fresh veggies for now and if possible make a pellet soup, get some of his regular food and mash it with warm water until it is a paste consistency, then syringe feed him some of this, if you have a healthy piggy add some of their caecal poops to this soup (sounds gross but trust me its good for them) and keep feeding him this as often as you can until you can get him seen by a vet. let us know how he goes. xxx

I agree with abby and luvcats. Another thing you must do is give him plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration as this can happen with diarrhoea. In the UK you can buy a product called Dioralyte, there should be something similar in other countries. Good luck with everything.

That's good news and glad to read he is doing well now.
What you need to do is limit the cucumber or anything that is more water than substance which should be fed less anyways.

I'm glad he's better today. My Jack has suffered from the occasional bout of very bad diarrhoea but in his case it starts very suddenly and then stops just as suddenly after a few hours. It happened twice after he'd had baby gem lettuce so we don't feed him that anymore. I think sometimes a certain food can just upset them.

It ain't the lett. I don't think because they eat that as a main part of their diet.He is doing good ain't his veggies.they aren't going to get much cucumber any more.

Lettuce isn't good for guineapigs as it causes diorrhoea. There isn't much goodness in it anyway as it is mainly water. Cucumber is fine ours love it. The best way to treat diorrhoea is to give them loperamide (which is the generic version of Immodium and Diacalm, and much cheaper to buy) Always keep Dioralyte in your medicine cupboard and give this as well by syringe if necessary to stop them dehydrating. Get them to your vet as soon as possible for some antibiotics as well.
I feel that a guineapig can deal with a virus but not with the dehydration as they are so small and soon succumb. We always try to keep ours awake and not let them go into a deep sleep for a few hours to give the medication a change to kick in. It doesn't always work but at least I think it gives them a better chance.

We give ours spring greens which we can get all year round, although at the moment we are having difficulty getting it with the exceptionally cold weather. Ours also love wild rocket, kale (in small quantities only) parsley - again in small quantities, carrots, celery, beans, brocoli, tomatoes, peppers. If you look on our website www.delukemcavies.piczo.com there is a full list of fruit and veg which we give on there. I am sure you will find lots of things that your guineas will eat and enjoy. Is your little man living on his own all the time. If he is this is probably another reason why he is quiet as they are pack animals and like the company of another guineapig. When you have cleared his diorrhoea up perhaps it may well be worth considering getting him a little mate, but remember it should be a baby guineapig as you cannot put two adult males together as they may fight. However a baby doesn't present any threat so they usually get along even when the baby has become adult.
